This was the view out of my office window on Monday the 15th. I watched the snow falling on the 35-40 foot (10.6-12.1 meter) model of a T-Rex, the future site of our new building and the pond way in the background, it got me thinking. Besides being beautiful as I watched the snowfall, I sat thinking about this wonderful competition. As I sat, I realized the vast number of young people from around the world who want to help. I imagined the various teams in their home countries (now at 14 different counties and all four hemispheres), I imagined the team members thinking about the challenge we gave them and the innovate solutions that are undoubtedly being thought of.
We are changing the Earth, of this there is no doubt. But also of no doubt, are the young people who have signed up for the Competition and how they look at how we’re changing the Earth and they want to do something about it! Progress and technology move forward but the youth who have signed up have stated they want to help make progress and a healthy planet go hand-in-hand.
While the snow has stopped and has since melted, the thoughts remains the same. All of you who have signed up have the ability to have your idea change the world in a way that can benefit everyone, all 7 billion of us.
Personally, I cannot wait to read some of your papers and meet the finalist teams because it will be people like you who really will Make An Impact.
