Step 1 – Gather a Team, and a Team Leader
Teams of 1-3 students between the ages of 15 and 18 from anywhere in the world may participate. At least one student on the Team must be able to speak English, as Paper Submissions and the Finalist presentations must be in English. Each Team must have an adult (19 years or older) to serve as a Team Leader to supervise student participation.
Step 2 – Submit your registration online
Registration opens Monday, December 14th.
PAPER SUBMISSIONS (Round 1)
Step 1 – Research your issue of choice to gain a thorough understanding
Make sure you are able to describe in detail the cause and scope of the issue, and explain the specific impacts on health, economic, and/or environmental conditions of the affected community.
Step 2 – Design a clean energy solution to the problem
Through critical thinking and experimentation, design a solution that uses clean energy technology to remedy the specific problem you chose.
Step 3 – Compose a report following the Judging Criteria guidelines
Make sure to adhere to the Judging Criteria and Formatting Guidelines.
Step 4 – Upload your Round 1 Paper Submission to your account for judging!
Through your Team account, upload your Submission as a PDF document.
The deadline for paper submissions is March 18, 2016.
PROTOTYPE PRESENTATIONS (Round 2)
Finalist Teams will be awarded stipends to help their proposals come to life.
Step 1 – Build your Prototype
Each Finalist Team will be assigned a STEM Adviser to guide them during this stage. With their support, the suggestions of the first round Judges, and the $200 materials stipend provided, your Team will build a Prototype of the solution you designed.
Step 2 – Test your Prototype, and gather data
Record what works and what doesn’t to understand the strengths and limitations of your Prototype. Make any possible changes, and propose future options to improve the design.
Step 3 – Plan your live presentation for the Judges
Be sure to follow the Judging Criteria and Presentation Guidelines.
Step 4 – Join us at the Finalist Event!
