The 2017 Clean Tech Competition is officially under way!
And what a competition have you decided to become a part of! There are 742 students from 330 teams are participating from 26 different countries: Australia, Algeria, Bahamas, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, Fiji, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United States and Vietnam!
All 742 of our participants have elected to take on the challenge and do what they can to Create A Greener Future. This is no small undertaking and you should all be very proud of yourselves, even this is a big step. Writing the paper and coming up with an idea and possibly a working prototype is an even bigger step! As I said in my email, I know I am going to be amazed at what you all come up with, I was last year, I KNOW I will be this year. Let nothing stand in the way of your idea, get help from your teachers, friends, family, wherever… This is your idea, it could, quite literally, change the world!
There’s still so much to do on my end as well as yours but don’t forget, your paper is due no later than 4pm EST on Friday, April 14th in a PDF formated file. The good thing is that MS Word will convert it for you. Also remember you only get the one shot to submit your paper. So like I said in my email to you, ensure it is EXACTLY the way you want it before you submit it through the website.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Stony Brook University (SBU) is going to play host to the Finals and you couldn’t have asked for a better, world-class partner! As the competition “comes home” to Long Island for the first time, know that SBU is a proud home to Nobel laureates, Guggenheim fellows and MacArthur grant winners and is among the top 1 percent of higher education institutions in the world (Center for World University Rankings). Personally, I can’t wait to have the Final on such a beautiful part of campus (but I’m not going to spoil the location at least not yet) So?… You wanted excellence? You’ve got it within yourselves (I know you do), just don’t be afraid to show us what you’ve got, and within the host for the Finals, that you can be sure of!
Well that’s it for now. Remember: April 14th, 4pm EST, papers are due; go forth and blow us away! The judges are lined up and waiting for your papers to see how you’ll Create A Greener Future!
